You might try reading the manual; output your WAD, convert it using the Level Converter, and make sure your Script.dat and English.dat reflect your changes. Best of luck, Striffelbuur.

The manual that was installed along with the editor of course. Or are you using some shady copy with no documentation or something? If so, you might want to consider buying the original; the game is, after all, cheaper than a night out at a good restaurant, and will last you much longer than that. Best regards, Striffelbuur

I recently purchased CHRONICLES,got as far as the sub and decided to check out the level ed on the separate disc. I had no idea that it was as detailed (for lack of better word) as it was. I've downloaded a few levels that others have designed, but I'm having difficulty opening them. My comp keeps responding that it can't locate the .TOM files on my zip. I've been at it for about 2 days & I'm getting pretty frustrated. I've not yet started to create my own levels, cause I'd like to see some other creations first. So I guess my question is, how do I play others levels? Any help? Thanx.[/B][/QUOTE]Ixtl here again, by the way does it have to be on 1024x768 to play or just to create & edit.End.Thanx IP: Logged |

Have you installed a recent version of Adobe Acrobat? It's the free program you need to open the manual.pdf-file... I use Acrobat 4.0 and I have no problems opening the file. If you have, then something else might be the problem. Has your system got enough memory? (you have to realize that an editor originally developed for in-house use is usually created on rather heavier systems than most people have got at home). Is your system stable? (meaning: does it crash every now and again, or have you succeeded in configuring it so that it doesn't crash?)... Oh, and don't forget to set your screen to 16-bit color instead of 24-bit or 32-bit: otherwise the editor is said not to run properly. Best of luck, Striffelbuur IP: Logged |

The levels you downloaded are probably .tr4-files, if I'm guessing correctly. If this is the case, then these are the compiled versions of the levels, and you cannot open them in the editor; you can only play them, by putting them in the data-directory, where all the compiled levels are located, and altering the script.dat and english.dat files to reflect these changes (see the manual on how to do this). quote: Ixtl here again, by the way does it have to be on 1024x768 to play or just to create & edit.End.Thanx
Not necessarily; I believe the main restraint is the 16-bit color (though I have completely forgotten to try and see what happens if I set it to 24-bit or 32-bit)... The resolution doesn't matter; I've got it running at 1600x1200, and it works perfectly. As long as you don't use a lower resolution than 1024x768 for the editor (for you'll be unable to see some of the controls), everything should be okay. Best regards, Striffelbuur

Thanx for the help Striffelbuur. I'm not quite a tech wiz & realized last night that I had to unzip the files first, stupid me. I'm sure your input will come in handy when I start unziping in a few minutes. Thanx again!IP: Logged |
