And did you get it to work properly? You've probably missed the thread about Lara's black latex (pvc) suit, as this program was discussed there... mind you, all this program would allow you to do (if it works) is to edit the textures of objects, and not the objects themselves... Do you get the same black-texture problem I encountered, or does it work fine for you? Best regards, Striffelbuur.

If it does work, it will still be handy for changing the outfits of the Egyptian baddies to something more suitable for non-Egyptian settings.------------------ Just putting in my two cents. IP: Logged |

Not only that; although you can't DESIGN your own objects, you can at least assign new textures to existing objects; for example, you could make the kick-door fit in with a setting designed with an entirely different look than the one of the current kick-door... With a bit of experimentation and imagination, it's possible to use existing props as substitutes for things you'd like to use in your levels... an egyptian column could easily be used as a column in a modern building, if only the texture could be edited... Anyway, I can't get it to work properly yet, so if anyone has succeeded to save a texture back into a WAD, and NOT end up with all black textures, please let me know ;-) Best regards, Striffelbuur.

Well, I'm currently fooling around with a tool named TR4WADed.exe which supposedly does the same thing, but this tool saves the textures to a RAW file (instead of a BMP), and when I save the RAW file from PhotoShop 6.0, the tool is no longer able to import it back into the WAD... For more info on this one: http://www.tombraiders.com/forums/getthread.asp?ForumName=Level_Editor&ForumTopic=Textures&ID=50181&txtUpdateID=&txtFile=getThread.asp Best regards, De vetheftige Striffelbuur hemzelf!...

Which one are you referring to? TR4WADed.exe or STRPIX.exe? As I mentioned before, STRPIX.exe makes all textures black once I import a BMP back into the WAD, and with TR4WADed.exe I get the problem that the format of the RAW-file is not right anymore somehow after I edit it in PhotoShop 6.0 and try to import it back into the WAD... Any ideas? Best regards, Striffelbuur.

It most certainly does... and on a more personal note: I've just found a tool that actually DOES work for me, which is TRViewer; this one takes the compiled .tr4 files and extracts the textures, saves it as TGA, and allows you to import your altered TGA-files back into the .tr4-file... Anyway, thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out on this one; I probably wouldn't have discovered TRViewer otherwise... Best regards & a most excellent change of the Millennium, Striffelbuur.

You save the texture-map (I believe strpix saved it as .bmp) and then you edit it in a program like PhotoShop or Paint Shop Pro, or something similar. Afterwards you import it back using strpix... I'd really like to know if this works for you, because all I get once I import textures back in (even if it's the file generated by strpix itself, without ANY alterations to the file) I end up with all black textures; the only program I can use for this at the moment is TRViewer, which allows the alteration of textures of a .tr4-file (which is the compiled level)... Thanks in advance & good luck, Best regards, Striffelbuur. IP: Logged |

Could you perhaps mail the version of strpix you used to striffelbuur@usa.net to see if I might perhaps have an incorrect version? I have tried both strpix.exe and tr4waded.exe but with strpix.exe I have the problem described above, and with tr4waded.exe the program doesn't accept the .raw-files after I output them with PhotoShop 6.0... Thanks very much in advance, Best regards, Striffelbuur.

Alas, as I was afraid of, this version also does it; all textures become black once I save the .bmp back into the wad; even if I don't edit the .bmp first. So even if I import the exact same file that was generated by StrPix.exe back into the WAD using StrPix.exe, this problem already occurs... I truly do not understand this; I'm using Windows 2000 Professional, with 384Mb RAM, and 32Mb graphical memory, so that can't really be the problem I'd guess... Anyone else experiencing this problem running under a similar configuration? Best regards, Striffelbuur. IP: Logged |

Hi Striffelbuur, is my again,I coded Strpix, and i think what your Problem is: I revised the Windows API manual for the instruction that i am using for build a new bitmap, the manual say that this instructions is included for backward compatibility with previous Windows version and suggest to use another instruction that is garatized to be suported for new windows version. So i am sure that the problem is that my program (strpix) did't not run well in your newer windows 2000. I will try to update strpix using the supported API for newers Version. i will try it this weekend, please try to download the program next week at: http://home.acadia.net/userpages/vagrant/Vagrant.html I am very glad that the actual strpix is usefull for someone. see you, Turbo Pascal.

Ah, that's great! At least we now know what the problem is! Thanks very much, and good luck in making StrPix win2k-compatible (can hardly wait ;-))... Best regards & thanks very very much for the effort! Striffelbuur.

Hi Pascal, strpix is a great little program, very useful. Is there any way it could be expanded to maybe export wireframes for a bit of 3D editing? Or something else usefull? Could be interesting. best IP: Logged |

hi guys,I coded tr4waded. It shouldnt have any probs with OS version since it does not use any api calls. Could be your problem is graphics package - try using PSP instead of photoshop, since I used psp and corel photopaint to test. cheers, Johnboy IP: Logged |

PSP demo version (time restricted only) is available at www.jasc.com other than that, I can get hold of photoshop so will see if there is a prob and what can be done to fix it in next version. (may be some time though since I will add bitmap support for those who prefer such)
