The manual says: press F button to switch to Flipmap, edit the room and then press Alt+F to return to the normal room. The background turns black and everything's OK, but when I get back to the normal room, it stays just like it was in Flipmap. So I end up with two completely identic rooms, and as the purpose of the entire Flipmap thing is to make a different version of the same room, that is so weird. Did I miss something, or it's just a bug? And same problem with using switches or pulleys to open doors, turn on flame emitters or something like that. I do everything right, just like it's written in the manual, and the darn thing doesn't work (and the pulley keeps on moving by itself although I've set it up in the OCB to move only once!). That's all so weird, did it happen to anyone else? Would re-installing TRLE do any good? ------------------ Catlantis Tomb Raider IP: Logged |

Click only the F button once. That creates the identical room. Then use the alt-f to switch back and forth between the two different looks. If Lara is looking directly at the part to change it will look very tacky. I have found to create switches around corners or that force Lara to have her back to the action. Then ad some sounds to complete the effect--water, sliding rocks, explosions etc. As for switches--when I first started I found them very difficult. Just keep trying with the trial and error method 'til you get the effect you want. Good Luck IP: Logged |

The "trial and error" method? Oh brother! I've started building the level all over again, and now the Flipmaps work. The pulley problem is still there, however. I guess there's nothing else left to try, but the "trial and error" method... ------------------ Catlantis Tomb Raider [This message has been edited by Catlantean (edited 03-06-2001).] IP: Logged |

The flipped room is the one with the black back-ground, make any changes in this one!!! the original room has a white background...The manual tells you that you cannot place static items in a flipped room..... place them in the normal room and set the triggers in the flipped room..... or you can also use the flip-off and flip-on triggers at strategic points in the room. It really depends what you are trying to do I guess and what actual changes you have made in the flip room..... I hope you manage to get it working ..... good luck!! ------------------ I WAS PRESSING THE DARN WALK BUTTON !! [This message has been edited by inchdix (edited 03-06-2001).] IP: Logged |

By some miracle I got it to work. I started a new project, and it just worked like it should. Must have been something I've done wrong in the first project (Flipmaps still don't work in that one, don't ask me why).------------------ Catlantis Tomb Raider IP: Logged |
