I've just released the first version of TRwest: Tomb Raider Wad Editing Studio. It allows you create and edit custom wads using any object from all the wads. It also includes a scripting utility to save the contents of your wad into a smaller file for distribution. This script can be used to re-build your wad. Please come and give it a try at http://www.jps.net/mikejj/trwest

This is too cool if it works. I've been playing around with it a bit in an attempt to make outfit editing easier. The idea is to create a "basic" wad file simply entitled "Lara.was," which theoretically would contain only the Lara object. The bmp file for this wad would be much smaller than in other wad files and should be easier for editing. As well, if you simply wanted to change an outfit for ANY wad, you could replace the texture file for "Lara.was" with the new one, then extract the Lara object from the Lara.wad into the wad of your desires. Simple enough?

The whole idea would be to give outfit designers an easier bmp to edit, requiring one template for this bmp if needed. The need to create outfit bmps for every wad wouldn't exist. All this of course is dependant on this program being able to work in this fashion...

So far, I'm running into "illegal operation errors" or the program requiring missing "objects" when trying to replace the Lara skin & joints from one wad to another.

I'll keep trying this morning and re-post later today.
