Yes you can, but TRWest when you click "Save as" doesn't save all the WAD files so you need to copy and rename *.CD,*.LAR and *.RAW from the wad you started with. Although there generally is little point to changing the name of the WAD and it is then bigger in download size and more complicated to install.

The reason why is doesn't copy the files you mentioned is because:

1) The .CD file is created by Room Editor and holds information about the CD triggers you have in the project, it is not part of the wad.

2) The .LAR file isn't used at all by any of the tools so this file doesn't need to exist.

3) The .RAW file is optional, if you want to use one copy whichever one you want. If it doesn't exist then pcsky.raw is used when you convert the level.

There is no reason to name your wad using one of the names of the distributed wad (angkor, coastal, tut1, etc). You can name is anything you want it doesn't matter. I think it is better to name it something unique so users don't have to backup and then restore the original wads just to build a level with a custom wad.

"Qui va la j't'en prie ?"

Wot Col and MikeJJ are trying to say, El Paso Dude, is that, if you have a look in your GRAPHICS\WADS folder, you will notice that every single WAD that are to be used, come with few files associated with them. For instance, say you are using Catacomb objects (WAD) you will find the following files associated with this particular WAD:

  • catacomb.TOM
  • catacomb.CD
  • Catacomb.Lar
  • catacomb.sam
  • catacomb.sfx
  • Catacomb.SWD
  • Catacomb.WAD
  • Catacomb.WAS
  • (catacomb.TXT)

Now read Col's and MikeJJ's posts regarding these files when using TRWest.
