I downloaded someones level off the internet and when I open it, it opens as a load of gibberish in notepad. How do I convert it into a playable level?IP: Logged |

I've just played around a bit with changing file extensions to .txt and viewing them in word pad, then changing them back to there original and there weren't any visible problems. Unfortunately if you don't know what type of file was supposed to be in the download, it's hard to know what to rename it two. how ever since you have a useless file before you, and most levels come as .tom it may be worth a try to cut off the .txt and swap it for .tom. also you might let the person know who you downloaded it from. -rob IP: Logged |

Emma, this may be a dumb thing to ask, but do you have the LevelEditor CD that comes with the purchase of Tomb Raider Chronicles. You need this to convert TOM-files into playable levels... ------------------ HAPPY RAIDING! Michael. IP: Logged |

wow! looking at my above reply I probably should have asked some questions my self. I assumed if it defaulted to notepad that it was .txt -robIP: Logged |

Also, you might be interested to know that I have just taken a look at eh file and it isn't a text file. It's a ZIP, does this make a difference?IP: Logged |

the .zip is just a way of of sending the contained files compresed, to save on space. you nead to extract the files from within. if you don't have a means of doing this, you can download a free version of winzip, or netzip. let us know if you need more help. IP: Logged |

No offense, Emma - people sometimes do not know what they do not know, so it's safer to ask, and in fact in another forum I came across a number of people who were not aware of the need to have the editor.Anyway, I hope Robbase's hint to Winzip solves the issue for you!
