It seems to me that the editor has a few mysteries. Therefore I've been thinking, we know you need some animation studio for FMV's becuase they are in bik format. Now what about cutscenes, they are TR4 format, and in the editors object list is Actorspeech head objects. That leads me to believe that the editor can create cut scenes. If so this may be Sage's huge secret. Well anyone got any ideas, or have I totally lost it.------------------ Top 5 Favorite sayings: -Never give-up! unless the situation is hopeless:) -The only thing certain in life is uncertainty! -You get what you pay for. -Nothing is impossible, it's just not likely to happen. -If it doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger. I've been testing and so far the game just crashes when I trigger a cutscene that's not there. But so far nothing, but I won't give up.------------------ Top 5 Favorite sayings: -Never give-up! unless the situation is hopeless:) -The only thing certain in life is uncertainty! -You get what you pay for. -Nothing is impossible, it's just not likely to happen. -If it doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger. Well, I do believe that they use the editor for the cuts and they use a program called AnimEdit that animates Lara and other objects. You also need the cutscene.pak or something that is in the TR4 game in the data, and those wierd cut scenes numbers have something to do with it too.------------------ http://www.geocities.com/hicho15/Lpage.html IP: Logged |

Yes the cutseq.pak is needed, animedit isn't needed I don't believe because we already have the animations like actorspeech heads, and as for 103.wav, I'm kinda curious my self. Perhaps we have stumbled upon something we have never imagined.------------------ Top 5 Favorite sayings: -Never give-up! unless the situation is hopeless -The only thing certain in life is uncertainty! -You get what you pay for. -Nothing is impossible, it's just not likely to happen. -If it doesn't kill you, it can only make you stronger. you need the cutscene pak. indeed but you also require animedit for it. This program makes sure the the animations walk in together. that they will fit. Now i've created a cutscene with my program (yes i used the actor speach heads only i chanched a couple of things) I can use it in the game but i can't figure out how you can putt this in the script i can use it if i use the cutscene as a normal level but i need help here. anyway I still need audio. but i know the person for that.------------------ Ain't never learned!!! I would imagine that the cut scene would be similar to a level, but if it triggered it as a level how would you put a cut scene in the middle of the level and make sure that Lara was in the exact same position as she was when the cut scene started? Do you get what I mean? But if we were not able to make cut scenes then why would they provide us with the animation for speech?IP: Logged |

> I would imagine that the cut scene would be similar to a level, but if it triggered it as a level how would you put a cut scene in the middle of the level and make sure that Lara was in the exact same position as she was when the cut scene started?Cut-scenes are not usually stored as separate files (like levels). They are created by supplying the characters (actors) in the game with a stream of co-ordinates (and their duration) for the position of each limb. For example, one stream of co-ordinates might control the right elbow of Lara and another the angle of her head. Theories from other users on this forum suggest that the files used to trigger the cut-scenes and supply the co-ordinates include: cutseq.pak; script.txt; and tomb4.exe. Lara is in the same position as when you started the cut-scene because while the cut-scene is running, you lose control of her in the same way that you do if you give a flyby camera a code-bit setting of 10 (see page 96 ‘Camera Settings’ of the UK TRLE manual). > But if we were not able to make cut scenes then why would they provide us with the animation for speech? The actor speech heads are included because they contain heads that are required to play the game as well as other heads that haven’t been utilised. It’s easier to leave all of the heads in than to strip out the ones that aren’t required.

seven125 has found that if you "open a cut.tr2 with trviewer you can watch the animations. Or put the LARA object from a tr2 level in an animating slot. Then you will see the cutscene."If this is the case, does anyone know where the equivalent cut.tr2 files for subsequent TRs have been hidden? IP: Logged |

I havent read all the other posts, I stopped only when sage said: it will be the trle dream.Ok, I'll tell you my dream, if it is not this, it is a silly thing. I'd like to create and modificate with the right collision, animations for my personal enemies, with an AI which I can create from the beginning and set it as I want. So I could create really new enemies NOT ONLY REMESHED. In this way I could even edit and create animations for puzzles and animatings, like setting rotational axis or skeletonal animation for everithing. And about the AI I will teach enemies for example to be freezed by an ice gun, or something strange like this. So, if your dream is NOT giving us FMV, then I'd like to have a program to edit and create animations and AI. Well, I have a SECOND DREAM: I would like the TRLE wouln'd have all the limits for the number of polygons (well I need only a little bit higher, for example 500 instead of 255) and no limit for textures set. Is it enough? so, if you give less than this, you give nothing. Well I hope really to receive all those gifts, or at least some of them And for this I am happy to wait.... ------------------ | |--->> psiko <<---| | DOWNLOAD the TECHNOEGYPTIANS PORTAL http://tombraider.videogame.it/giochi/trle/livelli/tep.zip First level from "Tomb Raider A - The TechnoEgyptians" [This message has been edited by psiko (edited 08-09-2001).] IP: Logged |

Hi psiko,I'm not sure whether your comment about with-holding information is intended for 'The Sage of Time' or me? I'm currently studying the triggering of cutscenes and FMVs but I've got nothing to hide. To everybody on this forum: isn't that what a forum is for - a place to discuss topics of public concern, a place to SHARE information? IP: Logged |

hey Psiko, well, teorical righ now there is a way to edit the animation for Lara and some objects. If you have 3d Studio Max and TRviewer you can extract Lara's and Enemies from Tr1-tr3 to 3d Studio Max file format, (with collision, textures, animations and everything), and edit the meshes, textures, and animations!. then when imported back, you can use tr2wad for build the WAD. look the pic: Lara stand animation was changed. Full TRviewer source code is free availible from popov web site (C++ source), so a good c++ programer can add tr4 support.

TP (or anyone else that knows): how exactly can you extract Lara with TRviewer? I have both TRviewer and 3D Studio Max, but when I open a .tr4 file in TRviewer, I can only view and extract TGA files, I can't see any animations or whatever... maybe I have an out of date version? TRviewer is 0.50
