Hi!

I've got this idea for a story to make into a series of levels. What do you think? OK, so it's sorta like TR1, but who cares...

After lara came back from her "Unfineshed Buisness" in the meditterainian, she got to thinking about what she had just been through. She had gone across the glode, Peru to Greece, Egypt. And in the end, what she thought was Atlantis, where the prize she had worked so hard for had dissapeared. But where did it go? How was she to get it back?

After delving into history books, Lara discovers links between two of the places she went to, Egypt and Peru. Both had pyramids. And the earliest of them in egypt was even shaped the same ay as the ones in Peru. But the Incan ruins (where she explored in TR 1) were not pyramids., The Maya, who built Tikal where far more ancient, and may have gone back far enough to coincide in time with Imhotep, fabled builder of the Step Pyramid in Egypt. What if Lara's first attempt to recover the Atlantean Scion was just a prelude to what would come next.

But far away, In Peru at this time, was a digging party. Men in camo outfits were shoveling, more men were setting up dynamite, and there werte a number of tents set up around a fire pit. A man sat under theese. He was set apart from the rest, taking it easy. Suddenly, a cry rose from one of the digging teams, and the man stood up. "Sir, we hve reached the top of the temple. Should we employ the dynamite?"
"Blow through it."
The leaders voice was low and greedy. "I want our men to double their efforts."
"It shall be attended to, Lord Taraervon."
"See to it that we are down in the temple by nightfall."

So Lara embarks on her quest for the final restingplace of the Scion, battling Lord Taraevon and his henchmen through out the quest, seeking ancient clues and scriptures, and much, much more.

This adventure will span across old terrains (South America and Egypt) and new dramas (Reserch Lab and Base in England and Ruins of... Atlantis?) It will be 12+ Levels. More to come later.

Well, what do you think?

Sounds great so far - i like the way you've implemented events from her past adventures into it Haha, uh you might want to rethink the 12+ levels part - good levels aren't that easy to make you should try to compact it all together into about 3 or 4.
Good luck!

Thanks for the support 85!
I put the 12+ levels in for everything included in the game. It already has definite levels. They are:

Training Level:

St. Bridget Estate© (Lara's Home Training)

Guatamala Levels

Ruins of Tikal
Pyramid of the Jaguar
Escape with the Scroll (Or something like a scroll)

Base Levels:

New Base
???(Base level, something like 13th Floor or Red Alert)

Saqqara Levels:

Old Base
Step Pyramid

Atlantis Levels:

Plane Crash (Not real name, just discription NEED NAME)
Volcanic Ocean Floor (Not real name, just discription NEED NAME)
Atlantis

This is just an ambition, and the levels may be more like "one Level per world". What I mean is that they might be two or three tini levels that are interlocked, like Karnak or Cairo in TR4. But some of them are so different (like the first Atlantis level, Plane Crash). As I said, theese are just ambitions, but thank you for the support and suggestions. Any other suggestions for my levels. Things like which wads to use also help, since only the base levels and the final Saqqarah level have set wads (I am going to use jliboys army man wad for the base [THANK YOU JLIBOY!! ] And the Valley Temple WAD for the last level in Saqqarah.

Well, I was going to make a game called Tomb Raider: Genesis, all about finding the book of genesis, and accidently releasing Satan himself!! It started in Egypt, then moved to london and the finalli was goin to be i St Pauls Cathedral (Holy Water!!). But I lost the script, and it would have taken too long.

sure thing Cbl! woah, looks impressive sounds like you're going to be pretty busy then. i have a pretty short attention span, so 12 levels would be near to impossible for me - but if you think you can do it, then i'd encourage you to go for it! Are you planning on using any custom WADs @ all, or just pre-made ones? in my opinion, custom WADs with new, never seen before objects and puzzels make a level far more interesting. The amry man is a good start though... i just might use him in my project... n e way good luck, and if you need anything, feel free to ask

dang Kiopo, that is awesum! you know, one of the things that made the Indiana Jones series so great was the way speilburg used religious themes, you know what i mean? he would center them around christian artifacts spoken of in the bible and such. it always gave the movies a kind of spooky reality, so i'm gonna have to admit i'm looking forward to yours. any level that uses real stories, scripture, or legends is bound to be something good. I'm doing something with that in my project too, except i'm playing off a legend and adding in a couple details. good luck on yours and if you need any help, like beta-testing or opinion, i'd be more than happy to help.

Thanks so much Kiopo and 85!

Unfortunatly, I can only use WADs that came with the CD or I can download from the internet, since my machine does not support the required tools. But If any of you know where I can find really good custom Wads (I know about jliboy, he has helped alot with his previouse support) then please tell me. I think I can manage all of the levels with out them, but the last one will be sorta hard. Do you know anyone who has a scion, or a scion they custom made, so that Lara can actually pick it up? If no one has it, I could end the level before hand, you know, using her house wad and city wad combined (who posted that, about making the combined WAD?) and use her artifact case for the scion.

Kiopo- Don't give up!!! That is a great plot for a game! You could remodle Set and make his ears into red horns or something for St. Pauls. And 85's right, some of the best adventures revolve around religious items.
You can right the script again!

Iv'e started with the house Training level. It is alot like the one in TR3, but I have straightened out the textures and have fliped the 6 in the gym upside down so she could have her jumping mat. I would put a screenshot up, but I don't know how.
Thanks for the support!

Keep rambling if thats what you ramble about. You story line is great! Maybe Solomons Temple in Isreal instead of Egypt. You know, the one buried beneath the Muslim church there today. You could use textures from the Catacombs or something so it wouldn't be too Egypt like. Starnge things could be happening around the Muslim church, but when Lara investegates, she opens the book ("No harm opening a book"- The Mummy) and she unleases the power of Satan. Then she has to find the holy water, like you said, and go's to St. Pauls. Sorry, I guess I'm the one rambling here, all my post's are about 7 years long. But anyway, make that game and I can't wait to play it!
And I am sorry If I have seemed to assume too much. I am not saying "Oh, do this or do that and don't do that", I am just suggesting. It is a great plot however you twist it.

Hey, "Death Pyramid"! Tell me the story. And you are stuck? How about a trick monkey swing. It would be over a pit of lave, and if Lara tryed to swing across, she would die. Ever played TRI? In the Atlantis level, over some squares, Lara triggers a lave burst, and little fire balls burst every ware. In "Death Pyramid" when Lara is on the monkey swing, half way across, she could triger a bunch of flame emitters at once. You could place them in a line going up like a piller of flame. That would be cool. I also suggested this to another forum member, but since it is my idea and I don't care who uses it, then don't worry if anyone says your a copy cat. It is already out there if the guy I gave the idea to is using it, but I think it is really cool, and would belong in a level called "Death Pyramid". Oh, and the secret to getting across? Lara has to get ON TOP of the monkey swing and crawl past the flame triger, and then she can get to the destination across the pit. Want more ideas? If you do, say so, cause I am loaded with traps to place and scenes to make.

I might just try that one!! Thanks

It's actually called Anubis: Death Pyramid, its just its quicker to say death pyramid, or DP!! I might include some timed puzzles, like in Tower Bridge 2. I am also using extensive use of flipmaps in this level Look at my post called 'New Screenshots and..' a few posts back to see some screenshots of it

Oh, and the story is this (a little long, maybe??)

Introduction...

After surviving her last and latest adventure in Egypt (4 years before this story is set),
Lara decides she no longer has the nack for adventuring, and her luck seemed to have run
out. Lara settles down to what she hopes will be a normal life at the Croft estate back in
England. On a rainy Sunday morning, the doorbell goes at the Croft mansion. As Jeeves is
currently unwell, Lara answers the door. She looks outside, but there is no one there.
"Thats odd" she thinks. She turns to go back in, and glances something at her feet. It
appears to be a parcel of some kind. She picks it up and retires inside to the dining
room. On it is a symbol, and Lara instantly recognises it as the emblem of Semerkhet, high
priest of Horus. Lara immediately thinks of her last adventure in Egypt, where inside Karnak
she had found the Tomb of Semerkhet, and had the prophecy of removing the amulet read out to
her. She rips open the wrapping, and inside is a large and worn black box, with a letter on
the top. She opens the letter, and recognises the handwriting. It was from Von Croy. Von Croy
had continued his expeditions after rescueing Lara 4 years ago, and was now the most famous
adventurer of all time. She thought about this for a moment, and felt a slight twang of jealousy.
She read it out aloud. It read;

'Dear Miss Croft

As you are no doubt aware, I have been excavating ruins in Brazil lately, and I've had some
very interesting results. Me and my team have found over 76 artefacts here, 4 of which are
extremely precious. Whilst I was excavating a site in northern Brazil, I noticed on the walls
around the tomb which we found, there was the emblem of Semerkhet, which of course is extremely
odd, as there is no evidence to suggest the egyptians ever visited Brazil, or any of America.
As your knowledge of Egypt is somewhat greater than mine, I have enclosed the artefact which
we found in the tomb, and pictures of the walls of it, for you to examine. I hope you will
return to your passion for just a while to examine these things.

Your Sincerly

Werner Von Croy'

Lara glances over the letter once more, amazed and confused at what it said. How could the Egyptians
possibly have had any effect on the tombs of Brazil?? lara looks over the pictures enclosed, starting
to feel excited. She spots the emblem of Semerkhet, and a few signs around which she can't recognise.
After about 2 hours she suddenly spots something in the lower right hand corner of one of the photo's,
the emblem of Anubis. This confuses her even more, but next to it, she saw an engraving that looked like
the box next to her, but seemed to look less grubby and a bit different to the one next to her. Lara
hurries into the Kitchen, and grabs a cloth, some water and bleach. She rubs hard at the box, and a few
more symbols begin to appear, but nothing special. So, she uses the bleach and rubs very hard trying to
clean the box. Then she sees it. On the outside of the box is a slight engraving, in the shape of the
amulet of Horus. Lara remembers she recovered this from the great pyramid after being rescued from beneath
this, and hurries to get to the artefact room. She gets to the secret switch that opened it up, and suddenly
remembered what she had to do to get in, and wasn't sure if she could still do it. She pulled the switch, and
raced into the artefact room, only just getting in. She picked up the amulet, and went back to the box. She
placed it into the box. Suddenly, it burst open, and inside was a scroll. It was in Arabic. It read;

He who holds the amulet, has released and re-imprisoned Seth. And he has not destroyed the amulet. The amulet
of Horus, after being removed, released Seth. However, once Seth was destroyed, if the amulet of Horus was not
destroyed 1 cycle of the moon later, an even more terrible fate would hit the land. When the year reaches 2005
(Thats in 3 days, Lara thought) Anubis, god of war, will unleash a curse upon the world. He will ressurect the
fallen warriors of the world, and use them on his side against the rest of the world. To create the apocalypse.
To stop this event, the holder of the amulet must go to the Pyramid of Anubis (Otherwise known as the death
pyramid) which is hidden on the eastern side of Egypt, instuctions on how to get there are included. Once there,
the bearer of the amulet must find the artefact of Anubis, and successfully remove it from the pyramid. Ancient
forces guard the pyramid and artefact, so beware. Be aware also of other humans that may want the contents of the
pyramid, as the artefact MUST be destroyed as soon as it is possible. Hurry.

Semerkhet

Lara sits there, her mind set. She hurries upstairs to her bedroom, and changes into her adventuring outfit, now
dusty, and removes her trademark pistols from her cupboard, and her faithful shotgun. She hurries in to tell Jeeves
where she is going, and books a last minute flight to egypt with EasyJet. She arrives in time at the airport, and
kills the security men as they search for weapons. She then gets on the plane, and it takes off just as policemen
rush onto the scene, trying to find out the identity of the person who had killed the people. Lara arrives in Egypt,
and visits John Yves. She informs him about what she is about to do, and he tells her that a team of armed archaeologists
are looking for the Pyramid of Anubis, and may have already found it. "Looks like i'll definately be needing these then",
she says removing her pistols. She borrows John Yves jeep, and arrives at the site of the pyramid, to find another jeep
already there...

Great Story! It builds a lot on the fourth game, which I like. I thought that TR4 had the best storyline. However, I do have two things that I would like to point out. Anubis was the god of mummy making and death, but not really war. In the movie THE MUMMY, they say he was the god of war and everything, but to real archaeologists, they watch it, they say that it was a "fun" movie, but that the facts were all screwy. Ankhesenamun, the princess from THE MUMMY, was in real life an ancient princess, but guess who her brother was? Tutankhamun. And he lived in the Dynasty before Seti I, the pharoah who, in the movie, built Hamunaptra. Imhotep, the Mummy himself, was actally the first doctor and was the architect who designed and built the step pyramid. Well, now to get to the point after that long sentence, I would make your Anubis evil, since it is a cool storyline, but just call him "god of the dead" instead of "god of war". It doen't change much . Secondly, your sure Lara should kill the poor gaurds?!? That is a bit brutal, even if she is trying to save the world. Maybe just have her knock them out or something.
But other then that, I think that is a great story!
I looked at your pictures before, and I agree with the person (I forgot who) that replied. Classic Egyptian levels with the original WADs are some of the best! Not to controdict myself, since I am using cutom WADs, but I still think so
Tell me what you think of my suggestions, and tell me what you think of my projects name...

I liked THE MUMMY films too. Like I said, they were fun, just not accurate.
Someone was building a "Pyramid" level, and they were using an old WAD. Hmmm, I wonder who that was. It looked good.
Anyway, glad you like my level ideas! I certainly like yours. And do make that level about the book of genisis and St. Pauls. It sounds really cool. When will Anubis Death Pyramid be out?
Oh, and do you know anyone, or perhaps you have it, that could make me a WAD with the Scion in it? I'd give them acknowladgement in the credits. And the Title Screen, too, I could use a new title screen that says something like TOMB RAIDER:UNSOLVED VISIONS. Or just a different TOMB RAIDER logo, without the "Level Editor" part. And I guess I should now reveal a sad, sad secret. The reason I can not make these myself, or any other custom WAD thing. I am on a MAC

And 85, what are you making with the level editor, if your still reading this post?

Sorry, did not mean to get off topic. Very sorry, but just wanted to know if I was dealing with grownups or other teenagers. Please do not say anything more about age and get on with Tomb Raider. I had asked before if anyone had WADs with the Scion in it. I am also looking for a nevada WAD that would not require any tools to add to a level.I mean, like a WAD with everything in it, including Lara's outfit and enemies etc. I could use this for a mini side project. And, plese, the original idea behind this post was to get feedback on my game ideas. I have gotten to hear some wonderful things about Kiopos "Anubis Death Pyramid" level, but 85 and Kiopo are the only ones who has actually suggested something.Plese, I need feedback before starting the game. You wouldn.t want it to come out, play it, and then think "Oh, that was bad. I know something that could of been a lot better." Info please! And remember, I'm unfortunatly on a MAC, so I cannot use tools. And thanx, Kiopo, for saying that it was a good topic. That relly made me feel happy .

Thanx so much jliboy!
The WAD will be perfect for my Base levels in the UK. But when I began to lay out the story, something was missing. All the locations Lara has already been to. I need something new, but still connected to Atlantis. Any suggestions? And is anyone interested in teaming up to do a little mini-series. I will be busy with TOMB RAIDER: UNSOLVED VISIONS©, but I have always wanted to make a level from when Lara was little. In the TR4 intro, they talk about Von Croy going on a "tour across Asia, culmanating in Cambodia", but we never know what Lara and Von Croy did in the other Asian places. The Cambodia WAD is resonably versitile, with crocs, mummies, wild boar, stone lions and skeletons. A couple people could each do one level in different Asian locations. I want to do one in Japan, but there is still China, Korea, Tibet, Thialand, and a bucnch more.
On that note, anyone with the Barkhang Monestary WAD? I've seen it, but access was denied .

I like using the young lara, you can get some good plots in with her, connecting your story with what is known about the 'old' lara etc...

Just letting ya know, I have changed my name to Cris-Kreg Michaels instead of Cbl. Oh, and the new storyline for TRUV is:

------------------
Many of Lara's past has remained a secret. Some of her exploits have never been disclosed by several governments. Where and how did Lara recover the lost Ark of the Covenant? Where did the strange chest of treasure come from that is now sitting in her gym?
Some of Laras exploits were kept well-gaurded by her own family. Where did Lara, as a young woman, and Von Croy go on their trip across Asia? How did young Lara escape from the crumbling temple at Angkor Wat?
Some of the heroing stories Lara herself never wrote down, before she...ran out of time. What were the details of that fateful Himilayan plane crash? What happened to the Atlanteon Scion anyway?

Now, all these questions, and more will be definitivly answered in...
TOMB RAIDER:UNSOLVED VISIONS©
Travel to places in Laras past, including fallen South American empires, the crumbling temples at Angkor Wat, sub-merged Chinese palaces, an enemies secret base and the lost capital of Atlantis!
Search for the treasure of El Dorado, the Globe Stone, the Ark of the Covenant and the Atlanteon Scion!
Battle wolves, bats, jackels, SAS troops, tigers and Military Police
while speeding on a Quad Bike, Jeep and Motercycle!
