You also re-compiled the scripts to data files then placed them in the trle folder. Right? That should work... at least to get it back to how the program was initially set up.

what do you mean by re comiling the script files. the readme said nothing about that. i made a backup of my last script file and overwrote the old one, which was probbaly ICE AGE. and then i put the script file from Tower Bridge 2 into the trle folder. hmm i dunno what i should do. i just found out i have two folders names graphics, but both of them are under trle and not on the same "level" so to speak as the other..you can have to go one more deeper in the files to get to the second graphics folder which inicidentally only had one file, so i just copied it over. i wish it was easier than this. sometimes it feels like it just might not be worth it.

OK then try this...

1. go to ms-dos (or dos. whatever)

2. find the script folder in the trle folder.

3. use this command: script script.txt

4 back out of dos and go back to the script folder in win.

5 3 new files should be there called: script.dat, your_language.dat and Strings.dat.

6. c&p all these files into your trle folder.

---or---

go to http://www.eidosinteractive.com/downloads/index.html then media and donload the wads there with the script.dat files already in it.

I hope this helps. Good luck and let me know.

*sigh* there just has to be a simpler way. i dont mean to be negative but that sounds like its just too much trouble. i will try it , thanks for your input and i appreciate it. i made a backup of my script and english ,dat files like the readme said...so...those dat files should have been replaced the the towere bridge2 files. thats my understanding anyway. ive got to go to bed but plz let me know ANYONE let me know what they think the problem might be. i will try all to see what works. thanks.

usmsci, you are trying the level one at a time, aren't you?
don't try to install all the levels you downloaded, this will not work or give huge problems

what problems are you getting when trying to install/play Ancient Legends?

and if you need the original script files, just download my original script backup tool on my site

reading all of the above, it seems no surprise that by now we are all confused. And admittedly, when you are new to custom levels it may seem cumbersome when in fact it is not and you get well used to it over time.

One thing you may want to watch is when extracting files from ZIP-files, sometimes they have a path attached and if you have the option 'Use Folder Names' checked and then extract to e.g. ...\trle\graphics\wads it will create a graphics\wads\graphics\wads and thus you will be converting the wrong TOM file.

In general, you will need to understand the concept of what a PRJ, a TOM and a TR4 file is, that most of the times you need to play around with the script.dat and english.dat (sometimes also with script.txt and english.txt as described above) and recently with all those custom WADs often the TOM file does not come on its own but has a bunch of files with other endings as well, but as these go into the same directory/folder as the TOM file you do not need to worry about these too much.

If you feel you don't want to worry about all this, the easiest way is to look out for levels that come as a TR4 file which simply needs to be copied into the trle\data folder, but of course these are also the biggest downloads (6 MB or more)

Again, try to ask specific questions if it does not work, mostly it works best to ask the author via eMail.

HAPPY RAIDING!
