I just bought the game for the PC(had it on PSX) and mainly for the editor. I just need some direction and pointers if possible. I know there is a post to TRLE FAQ and Community and that will help alot. However I have a few questions.
First, I was able to download the revised_wads.zip and angkor_wat.zip files from the TRchronicles site, but the new_wads and texture zips download but are incomplete and can't be unzipped. Is there someplace else to get them?
Next, I downloaded a copuple of levels. A couple from Dhama which worked fine. Also one called Celtic Folly which I had trouble with. The dhama levels just had me copy my original .TOM files and replace them with the new ones. The Celtic file was more work, it had me replace the catacomb.tom file several times, convert and rename to cfolly1.tr4,cfolly2.tr4 and so on.
However the first file did not convert completely, the next 2 did. But when I went in the levels where not there and the original catacomb worked fine.
Do i have to always just replace the original .TOM files and just convert to .TR4, or can I rename after converting and then re-insert the original level?
The Celtic level also involved replacing the script and english .dat and .txt files also, so maybe that went wrong.
Any help would be great. I just need some direction on how to start and best ways of replacing or renaming files.
Thanks

im not sure what you mean... are you saying that you had to rename the .tr4 files??? This is highly uncommon. the .tr4 files are the files that the game reads from. i have never had to rename a .tr4 in my life. Perhaps if you had to have celticfolly1.tr4 and celicfolly2.tr4 they use custom wads??? if so you would need to download them. but if not, change the .tr4 files back, convert the levels and try again. feel free to email me if it doesn't work.

Here is the readme for that level. Should i not do this?

To install this Level using the TOM file you should know how to compile an editor TOM file into a playable Level.

How to Semi-Auto Install:

1. Make a safe copy of your original catacomb.tom, script.dat and english.dat as these files will overwrite the originals when extracted.

2. Extract the catacomb1, catacomb2 and catacomb3.toms into your c:\ drive (MAKE SURE THAT USE FOLDER NAMES IS CHECKED/TICKED IN WINZIP)

3. Extract the english.txt and script.txt into your trle/script folder.

4 Run Easylife.bat found in this folder

5. Extract uklogo.pak into your trle/data.

6. Run rename.bat found in this zip file

7. Open your level converter and convert the new catacomb.TOM file into a playable level.

8. Once the build is complete, run rename2.bat

9. Now run tom2pc, again converting the catacomb.tom

10. Once the build is complete, run rename3.bat

11. Now run tom2pc, again converting the catacomb.tom

10. Run rename4.bat

11. The new level will now play when you select new game

The reason for multiple conversions and renames is because all the levels use the same WAD file. If you just convert them, they will overwrite each other.

The level converter tom2pc REQUIRES the wad to have the same name as the TOM file. So you must convert the level first, then rename the TR4 file.
When you run the game, if you didn't see the Celtic follies levels, you didn't replace the script.dat and english.dat. They belong in the main trle folder. You don't really need the txt versions.
When you try to play with the right script files, if the first level didn't convert, the game will crash when you try to play it. If you got errors converting, list them here and someone might be able to help.

I suggest you use GetRight

if you want each level in a sepperate download, you're better off using Colin's e-mail responder on http://www.tombraider-customlevels.fsnet.co.uk
