I was infected by the W32 Badtrans virus. If you have received any emails from me with attachment, it may be infected. Please follow the link: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html If not, it's still worth checking the link. Sorry for any inconvenience. dhama. IP: Logged |

tnx for the warning Dhama I've got the same virus from couple of people (not from you though), but of course I didn't open the attachmentwarning: this e-mail automaticly pop-ups a windown asking "do you want to open the following attachment..." it's a very sneaky piece of work, so people be warned! ------------------ allright zip it! ziiiiiiiiiiiiip! there seem to be a lot of people infected by this virus, I strongly suggest anyone who is using Outlook Express to upgrade to the latest version: 6.0 I just heard the virus in question takes advantage of a bug in the old versions of Outlook Express, which makes it able to automaticly open ANY attachments and infecting your system instantly So older versions of Outlook Express does NOT give you a warning before executing the attachment, unlike I said in my last postI'm using Outlook Express 6.0 for a while now and thanks to the bug-fix, the program gave me a warning when the e-mail tried to execute the attachment (and of course I cancelled ) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=32210&area=top&ordinal=1 I got the virus from the owners of the following e-mail addresses: AndrevandenBogaard@zonnet.nl Gary.Hastings@sympatico.ca sttickley@ntlworld.com anarkia@wanadoo.es lrpraa@flash.net If you happen to see your e-mail address above, I suggest you update your virusscanner to the latest virus defenitions and scan your computer for the W32/BadTrans@MM virus
[edit: added another person to the list of people who have send me the virus] [This message has been edited by Driber_IF (edited 11-30-2001).] IP: Logged |

yesterday I sended a warning to the people I got the virus from, but I got a mail deamon error back and after checking the reply address, I found out that the virus adds an underscore to the address, so if you want to warn the person, remove the _ in front of his reply address IP: Logged |
