Aloha All! I have a question in hopes that someone could help me, although I know most will be out celebrating the New Year. Anyway, I've played all the TR's that I have several times and I was trying to see if I could create my own game with my level editor. However, I've downloaded the program and restarted the computer after it was done and then I tried putting the disc back in to see if I could start making my own levels but it asks me to install again? Do I have to install a second time? And also I was wondering how do I download levels that everyone else has created? I'm not much of a computer wiz So do I just find a site download it and then I can start playing or is ther more to it? I'm in need of some NEW adventures Can anyone please help me? Thanks Much!Love & Aloha, ------------------

Erm, nooo - You would simply put your level editor cd away, (assuming you did the standard install) and select roomedit from your start menu.IP: Logged |

Standard install? It only asked for two installation types "custom" and "Full". So I did the Full installation. Is that the correct one? I'll try and check and see if I can pull up in the start menu like you said Thanks for the response, I'll be back if I have more questions. BTW......what about the downloading of other levels that someone else has created? Thanks. ------------------ IP: Logged |

The Level editor is a the second CD. When you run the install, it install all tools to build your own levels in the C:\Program Files\Core Design\trle directory and there you will find the special engine needed to run those custom levels. Drop a shortcut to start it from the desktop.IP: Logged |

Yes that is true. The Level editor comes with a small suite of applications enabling anyone to construct custom levels. The first application is known as the Room editor. Here you will construct the rooms that go to make up a custom level by conecting various rooms together and then texturing them in a variety designs. The second application is called the level convertor. This converts all of the information together which includes WADS (this contains all of the objects that are used within the new level, including the textures for the objects), AUDIO / SOUND EFFECTS etc. After the convertor has converted all of the information into a TR4 file, the third application is the actual Tombraider Engine which allows the TR4 file to be executed. If your TR LEVEL EDITOR has failed to install properly, uninstal the program and reinstall it again. I do not understand the download part or you post, as the official level editor comes shipped with Tombraider Chronicles. If you did download the Core/Eidos level editor it is sure to be a pirate copy and should be deleted from your hard drive.

Aloha Island Girland don't put the CD back again. I presume that you have got the original CD, thus you've installed the editor correctly! After that take a look at Windows Programs menu. You'll find Core Design, Tomb Raider Level Editor. There you have it! Click on Room Editor. Wait until it has loaded. Go back to the Windows program menu and open TRLE manual. Install Adobe Reader in case you have not got it already. Then push ALT+Enter to get the full screen view of the editor. Use ALT+Tab to change between your opened programs (TReditor - Adobe). Try it! Follow the tutorial as described and ... be patient! Downloadable levels can be found at: http://www.mprager.de/index.html http://home.planet.nl/~zimme030/dlds/banner.swf Good luck and go on tombing! Thanks you guys. I am printing out everything you all said so my husband can help me cause he knows computers better than I. But I did go into the program files and found the core folder and I opened up the level editor and found a tutoral level I could play and it also has some other levels I can play like in TRLR, a little different though, I still have to find where the folder is that I can build levels. I think I may have over looked it in the core folder. My level editor came with my TRC, no pirating here (thanks Data ) I'm going to see if my husband can drop it to the desk top like Number6 said. And thank you for the downladable levels address's The ARCHIVES, I appreciate it. You all have been a great help. I'm off to go get help now and do all what you said. If I have any more problems (hopefully not) I'll be back to seek all of you. Thanks Much Love & Aloha,

If you're still having trouble locating the editor ,you should find it on your start menu in the following location:start/programs/core design/tomb raider level editor/tools/room editor IP: Logged |

Okay I'm back.....I think somethings wrong. I went int o the file and clicked on the Room Editor file and then it said there was an error. "THE ARCHIVES" said that I needed Adobe reader or something like that to read the file. Okay please dont laugh because as you know I dont know much about the tech stuff with computers. Is Adobe reader in the Adobe photoshop program? My hubby isn't around right now for me to ask him I am absolutely cringing right now while I await your responses *giggling*. Anyway, Is that how come I cant open the file? It says: Winroomedit has caused and error in WINROOMEDIT.EXE What does that mean? Do I need to reinstall? Help Thanks Much, ------------------ [This message has been edited by Island Girl (edited 01-02-2002).] IP: Logged |

No you dont need to install. If i remember correctly the tomb raider level editor is fickel and accepts only certain settings. Right click on your desktop and hit properties. Next go to settings and click to 1024x768 also i think you might need to raise the color settings. Try that.N. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Adobe Acrobat is just for the manual ,It should of installed when you installed the editor. If not put the Editor CD in the drive, but cancel the installation, then right click your CD drive and on the menu that appears click on 'explore'. This will show all the contents of the editor CD. Look for a file called 'Ar405eng'.Double click this file to install Acrobat Reader.....hope that helps IP: Logged |
