http://www.cnet.downloads.com is probably the best place to find something like that. They have hundreds of rippers for loads of formats. Type to wav though, because some of them aren't free (they are mainly the ones that change multiple formats).IP: Logged |

Won't the latest Windows Media Player let you record what you are playing? Not exactly a conversion, but it works, and should still sound good. Personally I got a copy of Sound Forge XP really cheap a couple of years ago, and it does the job. Except MP3, you have to pay extra to write them. If your file is in some MAC format, you might want to download the Quicktime editor, it should convert it for you.

Even if the file isn't already on nut's system, and is on CD, then media player won't let you do it because they enforce all copyright gibberish. Not that I'm saything there is anything wrong with copyright MV IP: Logged |

Format type unknown? Are you able to play the file using Windows Media Player? If so, you should be able to get a filetype for it. What is the file extension?

Yes, I think I may be able to help. I believe, if you go to TWOCOWS and find Cool Edit under Audio, it should be able to load that file type, and save it in another of many formats. The trial version download only lasts so long (30 days?), but you can always uninstall and reinstall when you need it again.IP: Logged |

If that wont work, Acid Pro will absolutely do the job. I know they also have a trial version, but if sound is this important to you (and it should be in a game), buying it is a great deal! Its a full studio audio editor in itself, and comes with many sounds, loops, and tracks. Editing is easy and effective. This I know. I have it, and every musician I know has it on their PC. With his, you can open tracks of any format, mix them all and save them in any format. WAV IS supported.IP: Logged |

I use CDEX for converting between MP3 and WAV. It is a free CD ripper that can do the conversions for you. I always get great quality. As soon as I clicked Submit, I remembered that there are plugins for WinAmp to convert between MP3 and WAV and a few other formats. All free of course. I seem to remember someone (WBM?) posting a detailed tutorial in the forum for doing this conversion.

it just won't play although it's in the correct format. i step on the trigger for it to start and all backround music goes silent. i tried it with another audio track to see if it was the trigger and it works fine.IP: Logged |

Does it play ok with Windows Media Player? Do you want it as an audio track or a sound effect? If sound effect, did you change sounds.txt to point to your wav file? And rebuild sounds using the right letter code, then rebuild your level? If audio track, did you give it a valid number for the filename and put it in the audio directory?

Your audio file does work. Customised auio files need extra added silence at the end of your recordings of at least 2 seconds to work correctly. If there is not enough silence added you do not hear anything or just a fraction of it. If that does not help (for I think it does) you have to record your audio file (again) with (sndrec32.exe) windows build-in sound recorder. Some sound recording/editing tools seem to fail when saving in Microsoft ADPCM format. ------------------

It work fine in windows media player, and all the other music programs i have. quote:

It is too long for a sound effect, in my opinion, so i'm using it as an audio. Yes it is a valid number as i replaced it over another file. -------------------------------- Thanx Archives i'll try that. ------------------ Visit my site! Sign my guestbook!
