who cares about the stupid law? don't bitch and help the guy.zaher0001, there is a program called 'resourcehacker' which DOES allow you to edit some stuff in the exe file. http://www.rpi.net.au/~ajohnson/resourcehacker/ IP: Logged |

Well, you should care, but, zaher0001, I can't stop you from doing this, and I wont try it anymore, just if there are any problems, remember - You were warned! IP: Logged |

As I said I'm not forbiding zaher0001 to do anything, and I'm not saying that he'll have trouble 100%. But how would you feel if something you have worked hard on would be just 'edited' cause someone didn't like it?IP: Logged |

I dont know about this, your also not allowed to distrubute the tomb4.exe along with levels. Its forbidden and i am sure about it.So Bart.. if you could be more gentle and friendly to people to tell them in a friendly way it would be better for all of us. You never know what can happen, so i think the best solution is not to fool with such things, like eTUX said, he can get problems and i am sure he will if he does this and releases it on the net. Further no comments --- ------------------ The best thing and last thing is to try ( ^_^ )=b IP: Logged |

There is a very fine line to what is acceptable and what is not.The Tombraider Community has in the past produced many third party tools which we are grateful for and to which neither Core Design or Eidos has had a problem with. I believe the true answer to this is to contact Core Design direct to 'hear it from the horses mouth' to quote a certain idiosyncratic colloquialism, and discuss your intentions. ------------------ Learn to respond, not react IP: Logged |

You could also take a look at an alternative freeware 3D engine: http://www.genesis3d.com/ Take a look at a screenshot using the Freeware 3D engine: Development Status: 6 - Mature Environment: Win32 (MS Windows) Intended Audience: Developers License: Other/Proprietary License Natural Language: English Operating System: Windows 95/98/2000 Programming Language: C, C++ Topic: Games/Entertainment, 3D Rendering Is this really for free? Yes, the engine and all code is released for free. You can use the engine to make a commercial game without any cost for the engine, as long as you follow the licensing requirements.

Don't see why you'd want to waste your excellent compiler on this. Why do you need a different icon for crying out loud? Cursor? Didn't even know TR had one. You really can't edit an exes' code with a C compiler. Like the great BART said, there are programs out there which will let you edit some of the resources but you're not really gaining much in this case. Only reason I'm writing this is because you must either be a programmer or want to be programmer and I'd hate to see you waste your time on this. Precious few programmers have taken on to TR (not enough strokes, I guess :) and could sure use another TR programmer for tools or whatever. Heck, you really want to do something good, try disassembling the exe, figure it out and write the C++ source code for it (commented of course). Eidos went down 44% money wise, probably 'cause they ignored Lara this past season. Maybe they'll wake up and realize us TR fans are crazy and will buy whatever 'Tomb Raider' they put out. And while they do have an excellent legal dept., unless you plan on selling your stuff or mess with the TR 'image', I doubt if they'll give you any heartache. Go for it....IP: Logged |
