Has anyone else tried using the editor with Windows XP? I'm having some problems, maybe you could help me out:1. Some textures don't load. The editor crashes and I'm dumped back to the desktop. This happens with custom texture sets, as well as some of the "Extra Textures" such as "Golden Cat" and "India." Any thoughts? 2. Everything moves too fast!! When I try using the arrow keys to rotate my room so I can edit it, it spins at ridiculous speeds. Maybe this is more a result of having 1.8GHz, but if anyone knows a way to slow it down, short of reverting to a slower CPU, please let me know. Thanks! IP: Logged |

Neither of those problems are the cause of Windows XP. I wish people would stop blaming this wonderful OS for common errors.. -_------------------- IP: Logged |

My Editor always crashed under XP but then I set the compability settings "Run in 640*480", "run in 256 color mode" and "Deactivate Visual Designs" and it worked fine!IP: Logged |

Thanks everyone. I actually got my custom texture set to work by playing around with it a bit in Photoshop (not sure exactly what I did though!) Anyway, to SageOfTime, I admit XP is good for a lot of things, but I have had some compatability problems with things that worked fine when I had Windows 98. Project Eden needs a full install to avoid jitters, Madden 2001 has horrifically slow load times, the Level Editor has problems with textures (even in 16-bit color mode), and Medal Of Honor has trouble when starting new missions. Well I have never had problems With MOHAA but the level editor works alright for me, but when i try to run tomb4.exe it runs like crap. Really really slow. really slow. If the level is too big it crashes on me. XP is good but not great.IP: Logged |
