there is one room a very big one, and if I apply textures to it I can convert the level but while trying to play it the tr4 exe displays an error message, if I choose the clear room option I can play it????
so why can't it be textured?????
it is 14x28 and has floor -20 and ceiling -8

14x28???
The limit is 20x20, including the gray squares around the outside.

14x18 I was in a hurry and typed the 2 instead of the 1
me and my stupidity
I have tried everything to copy it and deleting the old one, spliting it in several rooms, but is useless.
I would happily retexturize (does this verb exists???) it but it's an outside with rocks and it took me a lot of time to apply all the textures, I should give up, I don't know
if I choose clear room and the apply textures using texture floor, walls, ceiling, the level can be played but the room is just awful

isn't any way to fix this
is all this because I had draw doors activated
why ???????

My friend, you may have reached the texture memory limits...
Does the problem happens when you are in that particular room?
Please tell me the number at the texture infos line of the converter.
It happened to my second level, as I´ve created a huge stack of rooms, all 20X20 squares, with detailed ceiling and block modelling. The level was already full of caves, triangular surfaces (which eats more memory), etc... The problem was solved after I´ve reshaped some of the rooms and got rid of some different texture tiles.
Texture Memory overload can also be identified by (besides crashing to desktop) when textures are shown wrong for some surfaces. Then I had to remove some unused objects from my WAD to get rid of unnecessary object textures and free the memory...
I had problems with levels at 3100 texture infos, and also with 2300, so it also can be related to the number of light bulbs in the rooms, and flame emitters... (???)

the last option of the textures menu is clear room which removes the textures
if I do this and apply new textures randomly so the room is completed it can be played but I don't want to apply all the textures again, I suppose I do run out of memory
the coverter freezes while converting my project so there is no written output data it only can be read: room text info 343
do I have to make my tga smaller or just apply less textures?

We should try documenting what things you can do that will create a new texture. I'll start.

You get a new texture everytime you...

1) Use a part of a tile.
2) Flip the tile.
3) Use doublesided.
4) Use transparent.
5) Use a different triangle.
6) Any different combination of the above.

As you can see, complex texturing can end up creating alot of textures from just one tile.

Oh, in case you think I forgot, rotating the texture DOES NOT create a new texture. Go figure!
