I have downloaded a lot of custom levels and many are without a .TOM that I can put in the level convertor, I get .dat instead ( I think), so how do I convert this? Also many levels just dont work when I try to convert them. What am I doing wrong?------------------

the .dat sounds like english.dat and/or script.dat - both to be placed in the trle root directory - or the level may not work.to play a level you will NEED one of these: - .tr4 - placed in trle data directory and ready to play (with the correct scripts - see above) - .tom - needs to be built into a .tr4 rarely... -.prj -needs to be converted into a .tom using the room editor, then build the .tom as before. my hunch is you've not got hold of the right script files for the level, or maybe the rest of the wads you need are on a separate download. the readme should make it clear what needs to be done - they often are not, however. A .tr4 should be the least trouble:place the unzipped .tr4 in the trle/data directory and place the english.dat (or french.dat etc) and the script .dat in the trle root directory. that's all you need to do. IP: Logged |

It depends how the builder chose it. The level might start straight away when you select new game, or you may get a list and then have to select the level from it.IP: Logged |

When you installed the level editor the original wads were allready installed. There are the revised wads, which have to be replaced with the ones you have in your TRLE/graphics/wads folder. But since the most levels have custom made wads, the ones you've installed are not much of a use. When you download a level, there must be readme in the wad, that must describe the installation, if the readme sais you need the 'updated' wads or the 'revised' wads, you have to download the revised wads to play the level then.IP: Logged |
