Tomb Raider Level Editor
6.1 Whenever I start the Level Editor, Windows tells me that it has
caused an error and closes
Your graphics card not being set to the correct colour depth causes
this error. Make sure that it's set at 16-bit colour and not 24-bit
or 32-bit colour, as the level editor will not run. When you've changed the setting try running the level editor again and it should
work.

6.2 Whenever I start the Level Editor it appears to lock up, as I
can't select any of the menus or buttons
Whenever you output your project to a wad the level editor will
automatically create a backup copy of your work to a file called
"autosave.prj". When the level editor starts up it first checks to
see if this file exists. If it does a message box will appear to ask
if you would like to "Load in last autosaved?" You must press either
"OKAY" or "Cancel" before you can continue to use the editor or it
will freeze up. Sometimes the message box will not be visible, such
as after moving the programs window around on the desktop before acting on the message, and you wont be able to use the editor. If
you find that the message box is not displaying at all simply delete
the file "autosave.prj" from the editors installation directory and
then restart the editor, everything will work like normal.

6.3 I can't see all of the buttons along the bottom of the program
If you find that you can't see all of the interface first check you
are running your screen resolution at 1024x768. Running the program
in a lower resolution will result in parts of the interface not being visible however it doesn't stop the program from running.

6.4 Part of the screen (or parts of it) has turned black
You can fix this problem by minimizing the window of the level
editor program, and then restoring it again. Once done you will find
that the black sections have disappeared and you'll be able to view
everything as normal.

6.5 Whenever I load a previously saved project I get a message
saying "Arg list too big". What does it mean?
Whenever you save a project, the level editor also saves the
locations of the paths for the WAD file and Texture Map. If you move
any of these files or folders, when you reload your previously project, you will get the above error message. Press "Cancel" and
another error message will appear to give a clearer indication of the problem.

6.6 Whenever I load a previously saved project I get a message
saying "Warning: texture file (path name) not found". What should I do?
You'll get this message if you move the texture tile set file around
on your hard drive. Click on the Okay button and a "Load Object File" window will appear. Load the WAD you were previously using
from the Wads directory, and then load your texture tile set. Once
it has loaded save your project and the next time you load it up, the file should load without a hitch unless you move your files
around again.

6.7 Whenever I load a previously saved project I get a message
asking if I want to "Retain all Triggers (Remap to Lara?)" What should I do?
If you see this message hit Cancel and the Level Editor will tell
you how many objects were removed from the map. Don't save this project! You will need to reload your project and load in the
correct WAD file if you want to make sure you don't lose your work.

6.8 The Editor window is completely white and won't show my level
in 3D at all. What's wrong?
Press the 2D button on and then off. This should make your project
visible in 3D view. You'll often encounter this problem if you haven't yet textured any of your room in your level. To make the 3D
view work again select a new room and resize then bound it before clicking on the Editor Window Panel. Eventually the level should
appear.

6.9 The objects in my level have strange
colours. Is this okay?
Yes this is okay. You'll often find that your objects won't show
their correct colours in the level editor. Normally saving your work
and then reloading the project will fix this problem and the objects
colours will have returned to normal.

6.10 Whenever I use the Level Converter, no data is displayed and
it appears to be doing nothing. Is it converting my files?
Yes it should still be converting your levels. This error will often
occur depending on the size of your project. The bigger the project
the more chance that you'll experience this problem. The data window
will not show the data as the level is converted however you will normally see the progress bar. If the progress bar is still moving
to the right then you can rest assured that it is converting your levels. When the converter is finished you'll be able to move the
window around on your desktop. Another recommendation is to check when the TR4 file was created using the files properties.
