Hi. I write this finally for all who have Audio problems and especially for Rebecca as she doesn't know much about it :-)
I had much problems with the Audio replacement in TR-LE. My own level "THE THIRD GATE" has a complete new soundtrack in combination with old TR parts and that's why I can't present the 60 MB large piece of work as only some people would download it. My friends like my level very much. Maybe later I put it on a webpage. Now the problems:
1.) The music file makes just a noise and you can't hear anything.
Solution: Use another software. Goldwave is very bad here. I had success with the Wave Studio which is delivered with the Creative Soundblaster Cards.
2.) In the Title Flyby the new soundtrack ends and makes a loud noise (just one).
Solution: Delete the pause after the song and it will repeat "smoothly".
3.) The songs (in-game) end abrupt. (This took me some time to find out.)
Solution: Rebecca was wrong. It isn't the song length. I have songs of 2 minutes and more. You can even use another, yet unused slots for music, but the number can't exceed 111. Core's wav player in the game is a very strange thing. They have around 2.5 seconds of silence after each song, and the wav player in game cuts this 2.5 to 3 seconds from the song after playing. So if your song ends exactly without a pausing then it ends abrupt as the player stops the song around 3 seconds earlier. So put a silence in the end your wav-file. I used around 3 seconds to be sure. Then everything worked fine.
I think the AUDIO is one of the smallest topics in the manual and Core made some strange things with the editor and game that some people go almost crazy trying to make an own soundtrack. I think they should have mentioned it. Many people don't realize the problems as they just use the old TR music files.
I hope this helps all who try to create new music files for TR.
